The European Parliament endorsed on 24 April the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) which is the most ambitious framework for action the international community has ever had and which should set us on the path to a future based on the protection of our planet.

This agreement will most likely be formally adopted by the EU Council of Ministers after the European Parliament elections on 9 June 2024.

CTLpack is working to meet the objectives of this new regulation by establishing a three-year horizon in which it is committed to improving the reduction of the weight of plastic tubes, the incorporation of recycled material and the improvement of recyclability through mono-material packaging, thus respecting articles 6 and 10 of the regulation which require, on the part of the manufacturer, a recyclability of the packaging of over 70% and a reduction of weight and volume to the minimum necessary to guarantee its functionality.

In this sense, we have defined twenty key products in our business, establishing action projects for each of them.

We also promote new recyclability options through certifications such as ISCC+, and we research and work on new developments and designs that allow us to improve our recyclability and plastic reduction rate, such as the Minitop cap or the Eco-f tube, which achieves a weight reduction of up to 28% compared to a standard tube.

Likewise, in our laminated tubes, we are working to offer our customers aluminium-free (PBL) options in existing formats, as well as the homologation of complex PBL laminates with a thickness of less than 300 microns.

In order to meet the objectives set, we have an external certifier that verifies the improved recyclability of our designs and developments.
